Aunt Flossie - The Best Band You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

Aunt Flossie is (er, was) a rock band that made their name known with the hit single “For You For Me” from their debut album, Fill the Void.  Fill the Void was released on March 6, 2001 on Crown Records (yeah, I have never heard of them either).  This song made its rounds on the local rock stations for a while, but after that, I never heard so much as a peep from Aunt Flossie.  I was only able to find two other songs from them in recent years.  That is, until today…

I ordered a used copy of their CD late last week on Amazon.com and it arrived today.  I have only had time to listen to a few “new” tracks but thus far, I am still amazed as to why this band never made it “big”.  A Google search reveals very little about what happened to the band since their hit single hit the air waves many years ago…

  1. Kattikawn Said,

I actually still have that song in my MP3 library. I remember I wore it out my first year of college.

  2. James Said,

I found an Aunt Flossie song back in Napster’s heyday and liked it so much, I downloaded 14 more, some of which aren’t on the album. I, too, never understood why they didn’t make it. Like you, trying to find info on what happened to them didn’t lead to much, except here.

  3. James Said,

Okay, so after more searching, I have found that Aunt Flossie changed their name to Hedder, released the same album (minus Killing Fields) on the Gold Circle label (titled Ventilate), and are supposedly back in the studio. The drummer left a message on their message board on Nov 23, 2006 that they are recording, so who knows…

  4. Shawn Knight Said,

Awesome, thanks for the info. I was just listening to the tracks on this CD earlier and like every song. What tracks did you find that weren’t on the CD?

  5. James Said,

Unfortunately, I don’t know the names of the tracks. I lost the original mp3s a few years ago and had to re-rip them from the CD I burned. I matched the other songs with the lyrics from the website, but I have five that aren’t on the CD and I can’t find anything about them.
