Business Cards: Don’t Get Caught Slippin’

null

Today I learned the importance of always keeping a few business cards on you at all times.

I was heading into the student union to mail a package at the post office when a guy stopped me. The guy works at the bookstore and I have talked with him a few times before. He stopped me to ask the URL for my website; he said he was in the market for a new video card. I gave him the URL then a light bulb went off in my head… “hey, let me just give you one of my business cards”. I get my wallet and soon realized I don’t have any on me :(

Luckily my friend Sarah was with me and she just happened to have one in her purse. Lesson for today: keep a constant supply of business cards on you at all times!

  1. Bobs Said,

Is there a story behind “playafly187″?

  2. Shawn Knight Said,

LOL yeah, nothing important though. Its the screen name I created way back in, uhm, 1999 or so? Playa Fly is a local Memphis rapper, and I think 187 is a police code. Silly name now, looking back, but it has stuck and I still use it today heh, most ppl just say playa for short

  3. KellyCho Said,

187 is the police code for murder.

Always have a business card handy. In real estate, to promote yourself you should try to hand out at least three cards per day… it’s pretty hard but you gotta get your name out.

  4. Natron Said,

I hated networking socials, I am so glad that my business model now includes not taking any clients ;)

  5. Adam Said,

I always have a stack of business cards on me–and then the minute I run out, I get ten people who want my cards. Not good. It’s like an addendum to Murphy’s Law: if you forget to bring/run out of cards, someone will want one.

Kelly: Give me your clients! :)
