Agloco was billed as the next All Advantage, which was a company that emerged about seven years ago that paid users to surf the internet using their Viewbar, which was a simple toolbar that displayed ads. Users were paid per hour for using the Viewbar and were also paid for users that they referred to the program.
I was very excited when I heard about Agloco, as it was founded by some of the original All Advantage members. I used All Advantage way back when and made several hundred dollars during that time, so I anticipated making even more this time around.
Unfortunately, things would not work out so well this time for the end users. I received the following e-mail from Agloco just a few days ago.
“Dear Shawn,
We would like to update you on the status of AGLOCO’s operations. We continue to believe in the AGLOCO concept, but our revenue is currently not sufficient to give Members a meaningful distribution. And though there are increases in membership, the resulting revenue is not enough to support operating costs. As a development team we are unable to continue to use our savings to fund the operations. If any Member would like to pursue continuing the operations of AGLOCO, you may contact us at agloco1@live.com .”
This is such a shame, as many people were really getting into Agloco but I guess their business model just wasn’t up to spec. Agloco failed to turn a profit and once they released their payment plan to its members (a payout over 10 years, yeah, right!), the program was all but officially dead.
Below are my final Agloco stats.
As with many things in life, not all ventures pan out as you would like, but that is certainly no reason to pack up and quit. Those interested in making money online still have several great options, such as TTZ Media and DealDotCom, so hey, what are you waiting for?!
I logged into my AGLOCO account this morning and found that the Viewbar was ready for me to download! If you haven’t received an email yet, I would suggest you log into your account to see if the Viewbar is available to you as well.
I have been using the Viewbar for just over an hour and so far, I have had no problems with it. The trouble with the ad server seems to still be there, as the Viewbar isn’t serving me any ads. But hey, I’m not complaining… that’s free money without having to see ads. Doesn’t get any easier than that!
If you are not yet a member of AGLOCO, you can sign up for free by clicking here. AGLOCO pays its members for the time they spend surfing the internet while using the Viewbar as well as the time your referrals spend online. The Viewbar is a small toolbar that is used to display ads. Advertisers pay AGLOCO to use their ads, and AGLOCO pays you to see the ads!
After several months in the making and multiple delays, the AGLOCO Viewbar is ready for release! News of the release was posted just yesterday on the company blog.
“We have made a workaround regarding the ad server problem and we will finally be launching the Viewbar. Some, but not all, of our ad networks will be connected. These networks have enough ads on them, so we are comfortable releasing the software as we continue to work on the outstanding issues that remain with the other networks. All of the preliminary Viewbar functions are there, but with the ad problems we will not be initially launching with the personalized ad targeting. We will continue to develop this capability after we have launched and when it is available the new version of the software will be incorporated into your viewbar automatically.”
The Viewbar will be available Monday morning and e-mails will be sent to the first batch of users (those who signed up first). Subsequent e-mails will be sent out each day after that until all members have the opportunity to download the software.
This is an exciting time for many of us who have patiently been awaiting the Viewbar release. As you can see above, I currently have 74 members in my network. I suspended my promotion of AGLOCO over a month ago but will begin once again. If you are not already an AGLOCO member, now is the absolute last chance to join and still be considered a founding member.
If you are already a member and are looking to further build your network, I encourage you to check out my post on how to promote AGLOCO. I have personally had the most success by posting fliers around campus.
My buddy John Chow just sent me an IM directing me to This Post where he has posted a video of him using a beta version of the AGLOCO Viewbar.
It’s clear that the AGLOCO Viewbar Release is just around the corner. The only thing left for AGLOCO to work out is getting the Viewbar to communicate with all of the ad servers.
If you are not already a member of AGLOCO, you can join my network by Clicking Here. Why should you join AGLOCO as a member?
1) It costs you nothing to sign up. 2) You get paid when you surf the web, which is something you are already doing. 3) You get paid when the people you refer surf the web. This is the biggest opportunity of the whole program. 4) You can disable or uninstall the Viewbar at any time. 5) The company is owned by its members and protects the members with excellent privacy policies and terms.
I am nine days into my AGLOCO flier campaign here on campus. In total I put up about 35 fliers with tear-tabs pointing to my AGLOCO landing page. So far, the results have been great. I have gained 11 new referrals in only nine days!
I checked on some of the fliers yesterday and it appears I am getting the most production out of the fliers posted in the student union. At this rate I may have to put up new fliers there every week!
It’s clear that I have had a lot of success with the flier campaign. One of my online friends placed classified ads in his local newspapers without much success. Besides using social networking sites like MySpace, FaceBook and Friendster, I would easily say that fliers will net you the greatest amount of referrals. And if you are fortunate to live in or near a college campus like I do, your odds are even better!
If you are not already an AGLOCO member, I would encourage you to check out some of my posts about AGLOCO on this blog to learn more about
It has been three days since I put up 11 AGLOCO fliers around campus. The results? Four unique hits to the landing page (as reported by Google Analytics) and you guessed it, four new direct referrals! That is a 100% success rate; doesn’t get much better than that.
I am planning to go back out later today with a stack of 30 more fliers. It’s clear that the fliers and landing page are working great, I just need to get more exposure. There are still several buildings on campus that I haven’t hit yet, so hopefully the pace will really pick up early next week! I’ll make another post in a few days to report back on the progress.
Fliers are a great way to advertise for free. If you happen to live in or around a college community, consider yourself lucky because there is such a high concentration of people in such a small place. I would encourage anyone with a little extra time and a small investment to create a landing page of your own, print up some fliers and get to posting!
Not a member of AGLOCO yet? No worries, as you still have time to become a Founding Member of something really huge!
I finally got around to getting some of my AGLOCO fliers posted around campus today. I have been meaning to do this for about a week or so, but today was the day.
A few weeks ago I registered a domain name and created a simple landing page with my referral link on it. As some of you know, I live on a college campus. Enrollment here is around 13,000 students. I thought this would be a great environment to promote AGLOCO, so hence the landing page and fliers.
I totally underestimated how many fliers I had printed out. I thought I had around 20 but found out that I only took 11 with me, what a wasted trip! I only got fliers up in six buildings today. But even so, 11 fliers x 12 tear-tabs = 132 potential direct referrals. I have already started printing out more fliers and hope to get those up in the next day or so.
So thus far, my advertising campaign for AGLOCO consists of $14.95 for the domain name for a year and buying a friend lunch for helping me put up the fliers. Since I just got the fliers up earlier today, I have not had any new sign-ups yet. But this is where I stand going into the campaign.
I have 51 total referrals at an advertising cost of $0.00 - not too bad. Hopefully my small investment in the landing page will net me some more quality referrals.
BTW, I intentionally blurred the links to the landing page in the first picture. I have Google Analytics running on the landing page, and have no incoming internet links, so I will be able to accurately gauge the traffic I receive from the fliers.

As the release date of the Viewbar narrows, I continue to think of new and exciting ways to promote AGLOCO which I wanted to share with you here today. First I will cover some free ways that you can start promoting AGLOCO right now, then I will cover some methods that involve spending a little money on your end. So, here we go…
1. As I have mentioned in previous posts, the easiest way to promote AGLOCO is to simply tell your friends and family about it. You can do this in person, on the phone, via e-mail or just by chatting online. I use AOL Instant Messenger as my primary messaging program and have already got several new referrals just by telling friends about the program.
2. Make use of online social communities like MySpace, Friendster, FaceBook, LiveJournal, etc. I have a MySpace account with about 110 friends. This is a great way to advertise AGLOCO. You can make bulletin posts describing the program to all of your friends. Another good idea is to create a banner signature and include it at the bottom of the comments you leave on your friend’s page. That way, everyone who visits their page will also be exposed to your AGLOCO banner sig.
3. If you participate in website message boards, you can also post your banner sig in your signature here (granted it is permitted by the forum admins) or even create an AGLOCOavatar. Invite users to PM you requesting more information about AGLOCO and how to join.
4. If you run your own blog page, this is a great outlet to let your readers know all about AGLOCO.
Now I will cover a few quick ideas that involve spending some money to promote AGLOCO. The key to all of these ideas is to first register a catchy domain name, set up a simple landing page that describes the program and link to the AGLOCO sign up page with your referral link.
1. Take out a classified in your local newspaper. Rates for this vary based on how long you want to run the ad as well as the circulation of the newspaper. Place a simple ad and link to your landing page.
2. Order up some business cards that link to your landing page and pass these out as often as you can. Leave some at local businesses, post some on bulletin boards around town, etc.
3. Speaking of bulletin boards, print up some flyers with tear-tabs that have your landing page URL on them and post these on bulletin boards around town.
These are just a few of the countless number of methods you can use to promote AGLOCO on your own. I will probably make another post in a week or so with a new set of promotion ideas that you can use to help build your referral network!
Thanks to John for pointing this out; My blog is featured in AGLOCO’s Company Blog today under the title of “Interesting Site of the Day”. AGLOCO linked to my Founding Member post from a few days ago. And remember, its not too late for you to join in and claim Founding Member Status for yourself!
If you are already an AGLOCO member, you know that we are living in an exciting time. The Viewbar is scheduled to be released later this month and end users (us) will start earning our fair share for the time we spend surfing the Internet. I want to take a few minutes here today to discuss what it means to be a founding member of a new Internet startup company.
Think back for a moment about all of the missed opportunities that have passed you by. Any of us would love to be able to go back in time and invest in some of the huge Internet companies. Some easy examples include Google, Yahoo, AOL and Microsoft, just to name a few. At one time, all of these companies were in the same state that AGLOCO is in right now; the startup phase. The difference between these companies and AGLOCO is time.
With AGLOCO, you still have time to get in early and be considered a founding member. Unless humans can invent time travel, we are out of luck for those companies listed above heh. The time is now, don’t let this pass you by. Imagine how bad you will feel in a few years when you look back and realize you let yet another opportunity slip between your fingers.
You have less than a month to start building your network before the Viewbar is released. That may not sound like much time, but in reality this is still plenty of time to build a nice network to help you earn even more cash from the beginning. And once you have signed up, you can start recruiting your own referrals right away. The easiest way to do this is to just tell your friends and family about the program. I did this via AIM and was able to help quite a few of my friends sign up. Also, social sites like MySpace are excellent outlets to help in the recruiting process.
The only question that reminds is, are you ready to start making money online? If so, simply Sign Up and welcome aboard!
