Last night Adam, Kiwi, Lexie and I went to the Collective Soul concert at Snowden Grove. They were originally scheduled to play last year but ended up canceling for some reason.
This was the first time I had been to the amphitheater and honestly I kinda expected it to be a little larger. We arrived just as Green River Ordinance was wrapping up their set. Surprisingly enough, Collective Soul went on before Gavin DeGraw. I would have guessed CS to be a larger draw than DeGraw, but I guess not. It ended up being for the better, as we all came to see Collective Soul anyway which meant less waiting and we got to leave early!
We found some pretty decent seats on the main concourse level, so nothing to complain about there. The seats directly in front of us were box seats and nobody claimed them, which meant there wasn’t a bunch of people blocking our view. I recorded a couple of my favorite songs which are posted below.
Overall their set was really good. There was maybe 1-2 songs that I wish they had played but other than that, it was very enjoyable. The lead singer Ed really puts some effort into his stage presence which can seem a bit odd at times lol. It was definitely worth the ticket price to see one of my favorite band play some of my favorite songs!
Here is a video I put together a few minutes ago from the weekend. Please excuse my horrible video editing skills / Windows Movie Maker - such a terrible program! Does anyone know of a good video editing program that is free?
I spent some time today going through all of the photos I took at Music Fest. I was not allowed to bring my real camera since its considered “professional” because it has a detachable lens (lame), so I had to settle with the CG6 and thus, didn’t take near as many photos as I normally do.
Myself, Astrid and Kiwi in the back of the Mini.
It was a little chilly after the bad weather Friday night, but not too bad.
You can’t go to Music Fest without eating something! Astrid was having a burger here, and we shared some Corky’s BBQ Nachos during Seether.
I made sure to get Sarah plenty drunk! Hey, we needed entertainment between sets!
Another beer, imagine that!
Astrid, Sarah, Adam and Kiwi.
Rockin’ out!
Give someone in Memphis a black marker, this is what you get.
During Finger Eleven…
During Disturbed, which was totally awesome!
Speaking of, here is another clip from their performance…
The three-day long event that is Music Fest is now in the record books. I brought along my Sanyo CG6 Camcorder this year so I could get some photos and video clips to share with everyone. I am still in the process of sorting through all of the media, but for now, here is a quick clip of Disturbed playing Down With The Sickness…
The 2008 Beale Street Music Festival starts this Friday and goes all the way through the weekend. Although the lineup isn’t as good as it was last year, I am super excited to see Disturbed perform. I first saw them live back in 2003 and they were incredible. I’ve been waiting over five years to see them again, and Saturday, it will come true!
The only thing that concerns me (as it did last year) is the threat of rain. MusicFest has a history of being rained on for as long as I can remember (the event is outdoors on the banks of the Mississippi river). We got lucky last year and only caught a few sprinkles. So far, the forecast is calling for rain Friday, but the rest of the weekend looks fine.
You can check out the video below for a recap of the 60+ band lineup at this year’s show.
I just picked up my copy of Mariah Carey’s new album E=MC2. I am a huge Mariah fan (sure, go ahead and laugh, that’s fine) and have been anticipating this album for a while now. I had a $20 gift certificate left over from Christmas (thanks KattiKawn) so I used that to order the CD, which just arrived a few minutes ago. I ripped the tracks to my computer and am listening to them now. So far, so good…

Last night we went to the Nickelback concert at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. Puddle of Mudd opened the show, followed by Chris Daughtry.
The show started at 7 p.m. and we arrived around 7:15 or so. As you can see, there was a long line, but we were able to bypass all of that heh.
Once inside and seated, we caught the last few songs from Puddle of Mudd. I am not terribly familiar with their music, but I did know the last couple of songs they performed. They seemed to put on a good show and had the crowd going.
After the set change, Daughtry came out and put on a good show. I had seen him at Beale Street Music Fest and honestly thought his show there was better, but I guess it could have been the crowd too.
Next up was Nickelback. This was my first time seeing them live and WOW did they put on a show! I’ve been to my share of concerts but this performance totally blew anything else (Disturbed, Godsmack, Hinder, etc.) totally out of the water. I don’t want to spoil anything for those who may be going to a show on their current tour, but you won’t be disappointed. The music / drum bass was absolutely insane, pyro’s rocked and they played the crowd very well, even hurling probably 100 or so cups of beer to the crowd.
Overall a great show. If you are a Nickelback fan, I’d highly suggest checking out their show if they come to a city near you!
I was talking with Adam last night and he told me that Collective Soul (and those “other” bands) will be coming to Snowden Grove sometime in September”.
Collective Soul is one of my favorite bands, so I was excited to hear they would be coming to Southaven (about an hour from here). I checked the tour date on their site and found they will be playing on Sunday, September 30. I’ve marked this date on the calender, should rock!
Speaking of concerts, the Nickelback concert at FedEx forum is just around the corner!
