Photo-A-Day: Day 55

This is a random, spur-of-the-moment picture I took last year during one of the home football games. I did a lot of experimenting with the zoom lens that day and I thought this picture came out pretty cool - all patriotic and stuff heh.

This is one of the first pictures I took with my Nikon D50 last year. I’m not exactly sure where it was taken (somewhere on campus) or even what kind of flower it is. Any guesses?

This is another infrared picture I took last summer using my Hoya R72 IR filter. The area in the picture is The Grove, a 13 acre wooded area in the middle of campus. The Grove is the prime tailgating spot during football season and serves as a leisure spot year round.

I took this picture yesterday while waiting out in the car at a friends house. I had my camera sitting in my lap and decided to start shooting to pass the time. It’s not every day you see an old school desk just sitting around “growing old” heh…

This is a picture of my friend’s puppy just after she returned with it from Mexico. We nicknamed the dog FALKOR after the big flying dog creature from The NeverEnding Story…

Now who in their right mind would position their Christmas decorations like this?

Truth be told, we actually found a house in a local neighborhood that had their reindeer in this very position. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a camera at the time and when we returned, we couldn’t find the house again. So, we did the next best thing; recreated the scene in Adam’s yard!

The contraption you see above is some weird chocolate waterfall thing that we saw inside the Bellagio Hotel in Vegas last January. I am not exactly sure what the point of it is, but it sure looked cool (and delicious)!

I took this picture last year using my Nikon D50. I really like how the depth of field turned out in this picture. The full size version looks much nicer, but alas, I can only post 500 pixel width pictures here on the blog. Hrm… I might need to change that soon :)

I took this photo last summer out at Sardis Lake. The sun was just beginning to set over the lake and I thought it might be neat to try and snap a picture from the side mirror of Adam’s Mini Cooper.

Here is yet another picture from my infrared series. IMO, this picture looks so darn and eerie, yet it was taken on a bright sunny day in the middle of summer. Infrared is very hard to master but when done right, the results can be breathtaking. I have purchased a new camera since last year so I will need to pick up another infrared filter before I can get some new shots this year.
