I saw a post over at Stephen Fung’s Blog that reminded me I should make a follow-up post on the same topic, the Dot Com Mogul Checklist. According to John Chow, in order to be classified as a Dot Com Mogul, you must meet each and every one of the requirements on his checklist. So, let’s see how I did for February:
- Your income is make from the Internet. Yep, I satisfy this requirement, no problem.
- The minimum Internet income level is $10,000 per month (you can not add income from other sources to hit this $10K level). Easily the most challenging requirement on the list, and the one that I am sure will hold me back for a good while… so no, I did not meet this requirement for February.
- You have no jobs outside of the Internet. True statement! Not that school was considered a ‘job’, but it did take away from time I could be working online… and now without school, I am free to work online all day, every day 
- You have a personal blog with your name as the domain name. Yep, alive and running for over a month now. This blog as been so much fun thus far, I only wish I had started one years ago!
- Your blog must be updated at least once per week. I try to post updates here 2-3 times a day, so I easily have accomplished this requirement.
- A Google search of your name must be the #1 spot. I am not quite there yet, but I am moving up the ladder very quickly. Just a few weeks ago I was the 7th result. Now, I hold the 4th spot and I hope to make the top spot by this time next month.
- You must be willing to help dot com mogul wannabes. I am always open to help anyone looking to start up their own web presence with a blog. Shoot me an email if there is anything I can do to help!
As far as I knew, the checklist ended here, but according to Stephen there are two more requirements on his list, so I will include those here as well:
- Give time, money or anything of value to a charitable cause each month. Yep, another check here. I have held two giveaways this month. The first giveaway was for a CoolIT USB Beverage Chiller and the second giveaway, which is still going on right now is for $50.00 in Cold Hard Cash!
- Personally help at least one person establish their online presence via a blog or website or help them enhance one they already have every month. Uhm, well… can’t say I have met this goal yet… not because I haven’t wanted to, but again, simply because I have not been presented with the opportunity. As mentioned above, I am always willing to help someone with a problem so just shoot me an email!
So for February, I have completed all but three of the Dot Com Mogul checklist requirements. I hope to come even closer in March and should take over the #1 Google spot real soon heh…
