Well, here it is, my very first post on my very first blog. I spent the better part of the day trying to get this blog up and running, deciding on a theme, etc. Things are still pretty bare right now but look for much more content to be added very soon.
So what is the purpose of this blog? Well, I hope to accomplish a few things here. I want to give my readers, friends and family some insight to the daily life and happenings of an up-and-coming, hopeful dot com mogul (I still have a long way to go hah). As some of you may know, I have been running my hardware review site OCIA.net for over five years now. I absolutely love running the site and have been happy with its progress… until recently. During CES a couple weeks ago, I had the chance to meet and talk with a few other tech site owners. I’m not sure why I never thought of networking with other site owners before, but talking with these guys really opened my eyes to the untapped opportunities that still remain with the site. Jason Jacobs from Techware Labs has given me some great advice heading into 2007. Shortly after the show, I got in contact with Bob Buskirk from ThinkComputers , who actually gave me the idea to start this blog. Both of these guys have been a great help, answering my countless questions about the stupidest things, so I want to send out a thanks to both of them!
So yeah, needless to say I have a ton of ideas and plans for OCIA.net in 2007 which I hope will result in a more productive and resourceful outlet. Some things that come to mind right now include a more active forum, hiring of a few more reviewers/article writers, a weekly newsletter and new OCIA.net T-shirts for the spring. Look for more articles from us as well, as that has been an area where we have been lacking in the past. I also plan to publish reviews on a more consistent basis. A new site design is also something we are looking into.
Things will certainly be challenging, considering classes just started back this past week (I have 8 a.m. classes ever day… mind you, I am NOT a morning person!) but I am up for the challenge. Stick around, enjoy what you see and feel free to join and post your comments when you see fit!
