iPhone Price Cuts & iPod Touch

“Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs apologized and offered $100 credits Thursday to customers who shelled out $599 for the most advanced model of the iPhone this summer, only to have the company unexpectedly slash the price $200 in a push to boost holiday sales.”

It was only a matter of time before the iPhone saw a price cut, but I will admit I am surprised it happened so soon. Also shocking is Apple giving out $100 store credits for those who purchased the iPhone at its “high” price.

Also new on the Apple front is the highly anticipated “new” iPod, the iPod Touch.

If you are thinking this looks familiar… you are exactly right. The iPod Touch is essentially an iPhone - without the phone. The iPod Touch is just a hair smaller than the iPod but shares almost all of the same capabilities: 3.5-inch widescreen display, multi-touch screen, Wi-Fi capable, etc.

The iPod Touch comes in two flavors: 8 GB @ $299.00 and 16 GB @ 399.00. According to Apple’s site, the iPod Touch should begin shipping by September 28th.

    That’s quite a significant price cut they made. 40% is huge for such a popular product.

    I love my iPhone - wouldn’t trade it for the world, but what Steve did in giving us 100 dollars back - it’s what make me a Apple fanboy.

    I love the new dock on the iPod Touch; hopefully they will bring it to the iPhone.

    I’d take a iPod Touch but then I wouldn’t spend money on it. The new Nano’s don’t look too bad either.

    That is one sexy piece of electronics. Should I get this new job, an iPod Touch might just be one of the first things I buy with my new and improved paycheck.

    heheh i still want an iphone… maybe ill treat myself for xmas, who knows lol

    but yeh if you get that ipod touch, i def wanna check it out :)
