Meet Jacinta

null

I went and picked up a new baby kitten today at a local veterinarian. I had been searching online at PetFinder.com but it seemed everything I found online required an $80-100 adoption fee and loads of paperwork. I decided to call the old vet we used to use and sure enough, their adoptions were free!

When we first entered the vet, they had a cage beside the door and Jacinta was the first one to notice us and started climbing the cage trying to get our attention… and as you can see, it worked! After filling out a few papers, we were done - how easy! She has had her first round of shots and I will be returning on the 15th for her spaying surgery, again, free of charge. The only money I will have to spend is like $8 for a booster shot.

On the way home, Keith remembered that one of his coworkers was giving away a litter box, litter, food, a scratching post and a few toys - score! We stopped by and picked up those items before making it back home.

So far, everything is going great. She was a little timid at first but seems to be adapting to the move rather quickly. She is fast asleep in my lap as I type this :)

    Cute kitten….I want one!!!!

But Shawn are you sure you are her daddy? Coz she does not look like you. :-)

  2. Rutledge Said,

    Man, she’s so cute.

I’ll put some pictures of my cats up on the forum sometime ^^,

Cute kittie :) Just make sure she doesn’t pee on your lap ;)

  4. paulette Said,

Nice to see Jacinta:) What a cute kitten.

  5. Bigman Said,

Cute kitten, enjoy while it last before it gets fat and lazy :)

We got three cats, 2 of them are 5 years old and one that is 15 weeks now I think.

  6. Kattikawn Said,

Haha, not all cats get fat and lazy. Much to my boyfriend’s disappointment, my cats are 3 and 5 years old and still romp like kittens across the apartment. Which isn’t as cute or amusing when they weigh 10 lbs instead of 1 lb.

As you know, I think she’s adorable. Much better adjusted to the new surroundings by now?

  7. Shawn Knight Said,

Yep she is doing better. I think I’m going to try her on some wet food. She doesn’t seem to be eating much of this dry stuff and earlier when I made some Ravioli, she went bananas trying to get to it… like I hadn’t fed her in a week.

  8. Kattikawn Said,

Try soaking the dry food in water until it’s soft. She’s a bit young for hard food.

  9. Rutledge Said,

That dry food idea is a great one Kattikawn… I’ll have to try that with my cats. (Though they’re older, they like the squishy stuff =P)

Shawn, I’d recommend you start data collecting now with your wet food: see if she likes the fishy stuff or the meaty stuff etc.

My cats only eat the meaty stuff, but we have to feed them the fishy stuff to keep their coats healthy, which means mixing O_O
