Ok, Please Stop Breaking

As the saying goes, “when it rains, it pours”. That saying certainly holds true for me and my string of bad luck.

Over two weeks ago, the dryer in my apartment stopped working. We contacted the maintenance staff and over the course of the past two weeks, they came out repeatedly, even replacing a “broken” part, only for the issue to remain.

Last Friday, I found the maintenance guy around the complex and had him come look at it again. He checked on things and said he had to go talk to his supervisor. He leaves and I head to my room… then notice the kitchen floor is covered in soap suds from the dishwasher. Lovely… so one of my roommates and I get to cleaning that up. I go check under my bathroom sink to grab some towels… oh wait, everything under the sink is soaked! I turned the faucet on and water was just streaming from the pipe underneath.

All of this in the span of about seven minutes! Needless to say, Friday was not a very good day.

It is now Tuesday. The sink was fixed yesterday and the dishwasher, well not real sure what happened there but it is working fine now. The dryer, not so much. They came and looked at it Monday morning… it broke again, so I went and complained to the manager at the leasing office. They returned again today, and it seems now that you can run it on the delicate cycle… which is great, but it takes two full runs to dry a regular load of clothes.

Blah, I need a vacation…

  1. Internet Entrepreneur Said,

Shame buddy, listen to this though - one of my dads flats (that he rents) has a roofing problem and the housing association wants $10,000 from each home owner to fix it…nearly $100,000!

  2. Leo Said,

A couple things could be wrong with the dishwasher:

    1. You used way too much detergent.

    2. You used liquid soap, or detergent not meant for a dishwashing machine (I learned this one the hard way in a hotel room).

    Wishing you better luck!

  3. Shawn Knight Said,

Yeah, after further discussion with one of the roomies, we discovered he used regular dish soap liquid in it, which no doubt caused the suds from hell heh
