Photo-A-Day: Day 35

What good is a college town without a drive-thru beer barn?! That is exactly what the Rebel Barn is, and the idea is genius. Here in Oxford, stores are not allowed to sell chilled beer, but the founders of the Rebel Barn found a loop-hole in the law. During the winter, the barn is open and as you may have figured, the beer is ice cold! Of course this is counter-productive in the summer…

  1. Kattikawn Said,

Those things are a dime a dozen in the town where my dad used to live in Louisiana. You could get them chilled, though. As well as mixed drinks like hurricanes.

For the alcoholic on the go.

  2. Natron Said,

warm beer, to much thinking ahead with that

  3. Juan Francisco Diez Said,

My ask why is illegal selling chilled beer?

  4. Shawn Knight Said,

Eh not sure, just a rule here in this city. No cold beer and no beer period on Sunday.

  5. Kattikawn Said,

    Juan,

Ole Miss is very anti-fun when it comes to alcohol lately. The school and county do everything possible to discourage the consumption of alcohol, so selling it warm is a way to keep you from enjoying it for a little longer.

  6. Shawn Knight Said,

Exactly… yet it didn’t deter the school from being ranked as the #5 party school in the nation last year. Funny stuff

  7. Kattikawn Said,

Yeah, I think that’s partly why they’ve gotten so gung ho about it and banned beer from the sporting events.

  8. Juan Francisco Diez Said,

Wouldn´t be better just to close the liquor stores? Here in Chile you can´t get liquor before 9 AM, and after 3 AM on weekends (1 AM on weekdays).
