Testing, Gaming and More Testing…

It’s not very often that we get in a review sample that is actually “fun” to test. Don’t get me wrong, I love testing new products: it is a necessary passion. When reviewing products becomes a chore or a hassle, that should be your stopping point and you should find another job. Anyway, my point being that most products require time-consuming benchmarks, measurements or some other testing procedure. Well this past Sunday was a bit different. Logitech sent over their G25 racing wheel for evaluation late last week. Keith and I spent the better part of last Sunday afternoon doing the photo shoot and some initial testing using Need for Speed: Carbon and GT Legends.

Playing GT Legends (one of the few true racing sims) with the wheel was amazing… I only wish my speaker setup on the test rig was more than the tiny monitor speakers. Anyway, look for Keith’s full review of the G25 to go live in the next day or so.

Since we were already gaming anyway, Keith brought his new Nintendo Wii as well. This was the first time I have played the Wii and besides the sub-par graphics, I was very impressed… so much that I might look into picking one up for myself in the not-so-distant future (aka after the test rig is “complete” heh). Keith had the included Wii Sports title as well as Rayman: Raving Rabbids. Wii sports was a bit more “kiddie” than I had anticipated but still fun. Bowling emerged as my favorite sport, with boxing coming in a close second. Keith seemed rather versed at baseball… especially considering he had owned the system for less than 24 hours!

Yeah heh… The TV isn’t a priority since only standard cable is offered on campus… As for the monitor, its an old one I had. My main work system consists of dual 22″ widescreens :)
