I wasn’t able to watch the Pay-Per-View last night, but I kept a close eye on results as they were posted live on an MMA site. UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck “The Ice Man” Liddell put his title on the line against fellow Memphian Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
I have been anticipating this fight for a while now. If you have ever seen any of Jackson’s previous fights or interviews, you know he is a “colorful” character. I had my money on Jackson to pull off the upset, as he has beaten Liddell once before in Pride.
I just finished watching video from the fight (easily available on MySpace Videos). The first minute of round 1 was a bit slow. Liddell seemed pretty nervous; Jackson even waived Chuck on at one point as the crowd cheered for some action.
Then, it happened. Chuck went for a body shot and connected, but when he went to back away, Rampage landed a killer right hook! The single punch dropped Chuck like a bad habit - Rampage jumped on Chuck and nailed him with four more shots to the head before the referee was able to stop it!
Congrats to Rampage for an amazing victory!
