I just wasted 1 1/2 hours watching this lame show on Spike TV. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has been advertising a “boxing match” between president Dana White and MMA fighter Tito Ortiz. The program spent the first hour detailing the relationship between president and fighter and as the minutes ticked away, I realized there probably wasn’t much time left for a fight… and I was right.
The show ended with Dana White jumping through all of the Nevada Athletic Gaming Commission’s hoops, only for Tito to not show up at the match. Do you blame Tito? Somewhat… but the real person to point at is Dana. Being the president of the UFC, how do you promote a boxing match, get fans hyped for it… then show a 1 1/2 hour program about a relationship? The event wasn’t live, so it’s not like Tito’s no-show was “unexpected”. They could just have easily promoted this show for what it really was, instead of luring people to watch and not delivering on your promise. Two thumbs down for the UFC on this one.
