Ahh, it’s been a long and crazy weekend thus far, and its far from over!
Sarah and I headed up to Memphis on Friday to meet up with Adam, Kiwi and Midget to go to Music Fest. Three 6 Mafia was headlining Friday night from 10:50pm until sometime after midnight. Their performance was my favorite thus far.
For anyone that is familiar with their MTV reality show Adventures in Hollyhood (which happens to be the highest rated show on cable), you know all about Three 6 and their personal assistants Computer and Big Triece. The show Friday night opened with Computer singing his “hit” song from the 2nd episode - “What Ya Starin At?? I Ain’t A Murror!!” Absolutely hilarious!
Three 6 then came on and played several of their hit songs and also a lot of underground stuff. The group performed the clean versions of their songs, since there has been a big stink lately about them performing at Music Fest and people trying to get them banned. Three 6 was clearly a crowd favorite and they only “slipped” twice when it came to profanity. That doesn’t mean that the crowd didn’t get into it. Overall a great showing and I can’t wait to see them again next year!
After Music Fest on Friday, we went out to eat at iHop and didn’t end up gettin in bed until around 4 am. I had to get up early the next morning to go with Keith to attend KattiKawn’s college graduation (congrats once again!). After that, her parents treated everyone to lunch at Logans Steak House! I went with the filet mignon - excellent choice!
I met up with everyone else after lunch and we headed back down to Tom Lee Park for round two of Music Fest. Tonight’s headliner was Godsmack. This was my first time seeing Godsmack in concert and boy did they put on a show. At one point during their set, the middle of the stage opened up and a second set of drums was moved out. The lead singer and drummer did a solo for about 10 minutes - very cool. They performed all of my favorite songs - great show indeed… although still a close second behind Three 6!
It’s nearly 3:30 am now and I am about to hit the bed. The final day of Music Fest brings Hinder, Chris Daughtry, Project Pat (aka Three 6 again? lol), Papa Roach and Edwin McCain. It should be another fun-filled day, that’s for sure.
BTW, we are taking a camera tomorrow so I should be able to get some pretty cool pictures using Kiwi’s camera (mine is way too big, as cameras “aren’t allowed” but yet, a lot of people had em today). So until then…
